ENDOMATE™ Dual 

Overview

ENDOMATE™ Dual is a two-retort endothermic gas generator built for heat treatment lines that cannot tolerate an atmosphere interruption. 

Where a single-retort generator forces a full shutdown for catalyst service or maintenance, ENDOMATE™ Dual runs one retort while the second stands by — or runs both together when the line calls for peak volume. The changeover is managed by the onboard controller, not by an operator. 

Every cycle is logged: gas composition, dew point, energy consumption, and alarm history. That record is what your CQI-9 auditor asks for, and it is available without anyone transcribing a chart.

How It Works

Air and natural gas (or propane) are metered by an electronically controlled 

proportioning system, then passed over a nickel catalyst inside a heated retort. 

The reaction produces an endothermic atmosphere of approximately 40% H₂, 20% CO, 

and 40% N₂ — the carrier gas used in carburizing, carbonitriding, and neutral 

hardening.


ENDOMATE™ Dual applies this process across two independent retorts under a single 

control system, with automatic mode selection based on demand.


Product Features:

Redundant dual-retort design — Run one retort with the second on standby, or both in parallel at peak demand. Catalyst service on one retort does not stop atmosphere supply to the line.

Unattended operation — Automatic start-up, mode switching, and shutdown sequences remove the need for a dedicated operator across shifts.

Demand-matched output — The generator adjusts production to actual furnace demand rather than running at fixed maximum, cutting both gas consumption and flare-off.

Electronic air-to-gas proportioning — Replaces mechanical ratio valves with electronic metering, holding the mixture stable as ambient conditions and supply pressure shift.

Full process traceability — Continuous logging of dew point, gas composition, energy use, and alarm events, exportable for CQI-9 and IATF 16949 documentation.

Q: What is the difference between a dual-retort and a single-retort endothermic generator?

A: A single-retort generator must be taken offline entirely for catalyst replacement or 

retort maintenance, which stops atmosphere supply to the furnace line. A dual-retort 

generator such as ENDOMATE™ Dual carries two independent retorts under one control 

system, allowing one to be serviced while the other continues production.
